Personality:
Sam Winchester can first be described as someone who simply wanted control of their life in a world that absolutely refused to allow him to have it.
Growing up Sam’s number one wish was to just be normal, or, at least, his idea of normal. Unfortunately for him, his life was as far from that as possible. Travelling from motel to motel, city to city, town to town, school to school, Sam held a deep desire for the stability that he thought he saw in others’ lives. Unable to ask about his mother, arguing with his father, and having the role of friend, brother, and parent filled to various degrees by his brother, Sam found himself raised in a whirlwind of activity that only increased once he learned his father’s big secret: The reason they travelled was to hunt monsters, including one that killed their mother. From there, his desire for normality only increased, and transferred to a desire to leave the hunting life and create his own path… although he later learned that this would most likely never be possible.
In this sense, Sam could be considered rebellious. Although wanting to become a lawyer and marry a girl and settle down hardly fits most people’s idea of rebellion, for Sam’s father and even brother this was unthinkable in a world filled with monsters that they knew how to hunt down and destroy. However, Sam is filled with a strong sense of determination and stubbornness, and was willing to fight for those desires up to and including leaving his family to attend school, despite his father’s insistence that if he left he should never come back. This carries on later as well- Sam is determined to be able to help and do things his own way, and this often causes struggles with others around him, particularly his brother Dean. Of course, this stubbornness can often wind Sam in trouble, especially when he finds himself wandering down a darker path than he should be.
This is not to say that Sam does not care for anyone but himself- on the contrary, he is a particularly empathetic and kind individual. On cases he’s often the one consoling or reassuring witnesses and victims to various degrees, and he seems to care more about being polite and friendly on the outside to people in most cases. Sometimes Sam feels a little too strongly- he’s said to feel as though “there’s so much even in the world [he] could drown in it,” and other people’s plights are often shown affecting him quite a bit. In situations where he worries that he himself could harm people he worries even more… at one point even to the point of asking his brother to kill him if he reaches a dark enough point. Despite the fact that he does have to kill a lot of monsters in his line of work, and often innocent people that have gotten possessed or something similar, Sam does show a strong desire to work more with the “saving people” part of their family creed, and does not want to kill or harm people as much as they can help it.
Although that specific request is never fulfilled, Sam does find himself making many mistakes, often to disastrous effects. His own independence and determination and desire to make things right often makes things wrong, and he often finds himself feeling extremely guilty when everything is said and done. The biggest example of this would be how his greatest regret is listening to the demon, Ruby, and drinking demon blood and accidentally starting the Apocalypse. Immediately, he wants to try and make things right and fix his mistakes, and even when he thinks he might be too much of a risk to keep helping and tries to take himself off of the job, he winds up right back in on it. All throughout season five Sam’s guilt and desire to fix things is shown, culminating in him allowing Lucifer to possess him and leaping into the Cage for (what he believes is) forever to stop the Apocalypse and somehow atone.
Sam has also learned other lessons throughout the years- number one being the ability to trust and put faith in those that he cares about. When Sam was younger he looked up to Dean to an incredible amount, and that never really fully went away. However, at the beginning of the show it’s seen that he’s a little hesitant to be working with his brother again after the way things were left off, and throughout the seasons he’s even seen believing that Dean is not capable of doing what they need to do. In season five, however, he has discovered a new-found strength in his confidence and faith in his brother, and is seen trying to encourage him to find it in himself when he’s in a dark spot in regards to their current situation. This faith is rewarded when Dean finds it in himself to trust Sam again, and the two succeed in stopping the Apocalypse.
Sam is fairly physically competent, able to fight with monsters thanks to an entire life-time of training. He even seems to enjoy the physical activity to a certain degree- jogging in particular is something he enjoys. However, Sam’s main contribution to cases is often his intelligence. Sam can often be found researching in a book or on-line, and even seems to enjoy researching, not just doing it because it’s part of his job. He also appears to enjoy reading for it’s own sake as well, and is particularly good at recalling past information and using it for current situations and solving “puzzles.” He’s often treated as a sort of “nerd” or “geek” for these traits, which he (mostly) takes in stride. He’s also, however, generally the more “straight man” to the more humorous people around him. That isn’t to say that Sam isn’t funny or doesn’t enjoy joking around- in fact, his level of sass and snark is almost unmatched. In certain situations he simply prefers to remain more serious and practical… or at least try to. The names he gets called for that are more like “prissy” and “bench.”
One of Sam’s greatest weaknesses is his anger and desire for vengeance. When his girlfriend, Jessica, is killed he wants nothing more than to find what did it to her and kill them, and in the (multiple) cases where Dean is killed he’s shown an almost scary level of determination to take out the creatures that have killed him. Even when Dean returns to life, Sam cannot let go of his desire for revenge and anger. He’s also shown to (understandably) become extremely upset with the fact that his entire life has been messed with by demons to push him towards a destiny that he did not ask for and absolutely does not want, and can be seen taking this out on people whom he does not believe fully understand his concerns. As time goes on Sam tries to let go of his anger- wants to, knows that it is not holding him back but pushing him in a dark place, and he’s shown some level of success in this. It’s shown that he is also easily manipulated by these traits- Ruby and Lucifer especially tried to use this tactic on him, both to varying degrees. However, it’s at the end of season five when Sam is able to ignore those manipulations and finally break free of Lucifer’s control that he truly shows his progress.
Despite his flaws and mistakes, Sam can be characterized as an intelligent, willful, empathetic person who cares very strongly for the people he is close to. He’d do absolutely anything for those he cares about, particularly his brother, Dean, sometimes to a scary degree. Although he is quick to encourage others to talk about their own problems and feelings and wants to do anything he can to help, he’s started to push his own problems down a bit more and try to focus on the tasks at hand- which is often, in his line of work, trying to save the world, no matter how tiring it might become.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
Sam is physically very capable of fighting, having been trained his whole life to fight monsters. He’s shown competence in both hand to hand combat and firearms.
Sam does not currently have any sort of powers; however, in the past he has. I am including them here because due to the nature of the game and events it’s possible it could come up- more of a “just in case” scenario.
Future Visions: Due to the demon blood he was fed as a baby, Sam (along with a number of “special children”) started showing signs of special powers. For Sam this involved visions of the future- mostly, that meant seeing people’s deaths.
Telekinesis: Sam was capable of moving things with his mind, generally upon feeling extremely strong emotions.
Demon Exorcism: When Sam was drinking demon blood regularly, he became strong enough to exorcise demons from their hosts- an attractive ability for him, considering his desire to leave the host alive.

Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Yes!
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: I'm not sure how to explain this, but the build-up? The suspense and the fear, as well as dealing with situations and what one had to do in them afterwards. Definitely more into the psychological aspect! And I love things that prey specifically on characters' fears and weaknesses, or target/lower their strengths specifically. I also love supernatural aspects of things- ghosts? werewolves? Random monsters and old legends and lore? LOVE THAT. Mysteries that can be solved are also amazing.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: Nonconsensual things of a sexual nature.
